bio:

Bartosz Jurga is an attorney-in-law with over 15 years of professional experience gained in Polish and international law firms, the International Energy Agency, the European Commission (Directorate General for Competition) and as an in-house lawyer in companies from the financial and aerospace sectors.

Bartosz specialises in energy, commercial and corporate law, also advising clients on competition law and intellectual property.

Bartosz graduated from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań at the Faculty of Law and Administration, the University of Bonn, and he participated in numerous training courses and seminars, including those organised by the École Nationale Supérieure du Pétrole et des Moteurs (IFP School) on gas and oil trading.

He is fluent in English, French and German.

Experience:

  • Advised on regulatory aspects of the electricity, gas and biogas markets;
  • Co-authored World Energy Outlook (WEO) reports from 2013 to 2016 and special reports issued by the International Energy Agency (IEA);
  • Organised three editions of the IEA Unconventional Gas Forum (2014-2016), held successively in Canada, China and Argentina;
  • Participated in the IEA delegation to COP 19 (Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC);
  • Negotiated and executed grant and consortium agreements in the EU Horizon 2020 programme and contracts with the European Space Agency;
  • Rendered comprehensive legal services to a company in the technology and aerospace sector;
  • Drafted prospectuses and documents in merger notification proceedings;
  • Executed corporate bond emissions and M&A transactions.
